Several Hurt as In-Flight Disturbance Hits A Delta Airlines Flight Landing at Sydney, Australia
A number of individuals sustained injuries when a Delta Airlines aircraft originating in LA to Sydney, Australia was hit by significant turbulence this past Friday.
The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier stated. Several cabin crew members were injured.
Local paramedics said they assessed a total of five people, and took three of them to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries that included pain in the back and headaches. The patients' ages were between their 30s to 70s.
This marks the most recent case of aircraft experiencing severe turbulence, with experts indicating that climate change is a major factor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the representative added, adding that the plane arrived "without further incident" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on the day in question.
The NSW Ambulance Service said they were alerted just three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
